Frequently asked Questions

Why is a Compliance Fee being assessed?

We have made a number of significant financial investments in order to comply with industry regulations mandated by the government and card associations in recent years, including; developing and implementing PCI compliance programs and becoming PCI certified in our corporate offices, performing annual security scans and audits, updating software download programs for thousands of terminals to ensure customer receipts are compliant with FACTA as well as Visa and MasterCard’s new requirements, implementing new reporting systems, rolling out new application paperwork, bringing on and training dedicated staff to assist our merchants with compliance related issues, and much more.

Your payment of the Compliance Fee does not in any way imply, insure or provide compliance with PCI or FACTA requirements. Merchants are required to take the steps necessary to ensure they are in compliance based on their specific payment acceptance procedures and understand that failure to do so makes them vulnerable to the associated risks.

How will the Compliance Fee be assessed?
This fee will be billed on April and May of 2009 in the amount of $39.50
.
What is PCI DSS?
The Payment Card Industry (PCI), lead by bancard associations (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc..), has created the Data Security Standard (DSS) to protect cardholder data from being compromised. The DSS standard applies to all merchants and acquirers.

How do I learn more about PCI DSS?
More information about PCI DSS is available from the PCI Security Standards Council. If you are interested in becoming PCI certified or are unsure if you are following the DSS guidelines properly, you can contact our compliance partner Trustwave.

I am not sure whether the equipment, internet gateway, POS or software I am using is PCI or FACTA compliant. What should I do?
Most newer point of sale terminals do not store card data and are PCI compliant. If you are using an older terminal and have not downloaded the most current software in the last 2-3 years, we recommend you contact us to update your terminal. Download instructions can also be found in the Compliance Checklist under the point of sale terminal section.

For software, internet gateways, etc. please contact the manufacturer or software provider directly to determine if the version of the system you are using is PCI compliant and to update your system if necessary. If you store card data electronically or are in need of additional assistance, we have partnered with Trustwave to assist our merchants with their PCI compliance needs.
